Police Arrest 16-Year-Old Over Fatal Stabbing of Man in Cross River
Police in Cross River have arrested a 16-year-old suspect over the alleged fatal stabbing of 20-year-old Uwem Daniel Akpan in Awi community, Akamkpa Local Government Area. The incident reportedly happened around 7:30 p.m. on August 31 after a misunderstanding on Peters Street. Akpan was taken to the Naval Reference Hospital in Calabar, where he was confirmed dead. The police said the suspect is in custody and that the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Calabar for further investigation. Residents have been urged to remain calm and allow the law to take its course.
