Moove Exits Nigeria After Uber’s Departure, Waives Remaining Payments for Eligible Drivers
Moove says it is ending its Nigerian operations after Uber’s departure disrupted the platform-dependent model that supported its business at scale. The vehicle-financing company said eligible mobility entrepreneurs who settle remittances outstanding before October 1, 2026, will have their remaining scheduled payments waived. Ownership of their vehicles will then be transferred to them under its Thank You Nigeria initiative. Moove said it started in Lagos with 76 vehicles and has grown to about 42,000 vehicles across 29 cities globally. The company says it has served more than 9,000 Nigerian mobility entrepreneurs, whose Moove-financed vehicles generated an estimated ₦57 billion in revenue. The initiative will also provide vehicles to eligible Nigerian employees as the company completes its exit and shifts focus to expansion in other markets and autonomous mobility.
