Report: Macklemore Kept Palestine Message Despite NFL Owners’ Objections
Several NFL team owners reportedly objected after Macklemore voiced support for Palestinians during the first of Ed Sheeran’s MetLife Stadium shows. They were allegedly told the references would be removed from his second performance. According to a report by an international newspaper, Macklemore continued the pro-Palestinian messaging on the second night. It remains unclear who gave the owners that assurance or whether Macklemore agreed to it. Owners linked to the Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles were reportedly among those who raised concerns. Macklemore was later removed from the remaining tour dates and said he would donate his net tour earnings to organisations supporting Palestinians. Patriots owner Robert Kraft later announced a separate humanitarian donation for people in the region.
