Gunmen Ambush 34 Artillery Brigade in Imo, Soldier Killed and Another Wounded
Soldiers of the 34 Artillery Brigade were ambushed by gunmen on May 4 in Ohaji/Egbema, Imo State. They had gone to inspect a burnt Hilux along the SPDCEtekuru road. On arrival, the attackers opened heavy fire. Lance Corporal David Emmanuel Chuka was killed, and a colleague was injured. The assailants carted away two AK-47 rifles and partially damaged a military vehicle. Reinforcements quickly arrived, forcing the gunmen to flee. Security operatives later discovered two burnt vehicles and two bodies during a follow-up sweep. The remains were taken to a hospital morgue, and a manhunt for the attackers is ongoing.
