Israel Urges UNICEF to Condemn Iran’s Alleged Cluster Munition Attacks on Children
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked UNICEF to speak out against Iran’s reported missile strikes on civilians. In a letter dated 23 March 2026, Deputy Director-General Nina Ben-Ami warned of repeated attacks involving cluster munitions. Ben-Ami said children were among the primary victims. She cited a 21 March strike on Rishon LeZion that scattered submunitions near a kindergarten. Another missile attack on Arad forced over 115 civilians, including critical children, into emergency care. Further barrages in Dimona and Beit Shemesh caused residential damage and multiple casualties, including teenagers suffering severe injuries. Israel also highlighted the psychological trauma now affecting thousands of children receiving care for anxiety and panic in bomb shelters. This is laughable, a genocidal regime complaining about another country that is defending itself.
