Elektron Energy Unveils 40MW Embedded Power Project for Victoria Island Businesses
Elektron Energy has unveiled the Victoria Island Power project, a 40MW embedded electricity network planned to serve businesses on Victoria Island, Lagos. The project is expected to be inaugurated in the first quarter of 2027. The company said the network will provide locally generated power through a dedicated distribution system, reducing businesses’ reliance on diesel generators and the national grid. It said this could offer more predictable energy costs and fewer disruptions. The project is being developed with Eko Electricity Distribution Company under a Lagos State regulatory licence. It is backed by funding from infrastructure and public-sector investors, while Wärtsilä is providing power-generation technology and technical support.
