Trump Sends Witkoff and Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv With New Ukraine Peace Proposal
US President Donald Trump says he has sent special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv with a proposal aimed at ending Russia’s four-year war in Ukraine. The envoys are expected to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow before travelling to Kyiv for talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump gave few details of the proposal, including whether it could involve Ukraine ceding territory. The mission comes as both sides intensify long-range drone and missile attacks. A Russian drone strike reportedly hit the headquarters of Ukraine’s SBU security service in Kyiv, while another strike in Kamianske reportedly killed four people and injured five. Zelensky has proposed a temporary halt to airstrikes during the US delegation’s visit, but Moscow has not publicly responded.
