HEDA Petitions ICPC Over Alleged Salaries Paid to Uche Nnaji After Ministerial Exit

The Human and Environmental Development Agenda has petitioned the ICPC over allegations that former Innovation, Science and Technology Minister Uche Nnaji remained on the federal payroll for 10 months after leaving office. HEDA said IPPIS records for June 2026 allegedly listed Nnaji as “Hon Minister” under the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, with a net payment of ₦170,282.61 and cumulative earnings of ₦5.85 million. Earlier reports also alleged that he received about ₦1.1 million monthly in salaries and at least ₦12.8 million in allowances after his exit. The group wants the ICPC to investigate how his profile remained active, identify officials who authorised the payments, recover any improperly paid funds and consider further charges. Nnaji is already facing charges related to alleged certificate forgery and money laundering, with the case adjourned until 21 September.
