Yemeni Government Reports Strikes on Houthi Targets in Sanaa
Yemen’s internationally recognised government says its forces struck targets in the Houthi-controlled capital, Sanaa, as fighting intensified across several parts of the country. The government said sites in Sanaa, Saada and Taiz were targeted. The escalation followed Saudi Arabia’s allegation that Houthi drones hit an electricity facility in Medina that supplies the Prophet’s Mosque. Saudi authorities said one transformer was damaged, while the wider network remained operational. The Houthis denied responsibility. Saudi Arabia also said it intercepted four drones and two ballistic missiles aimed at its southern regions. Heavy fighting continues in Taiz, where the Yemeni government reported 20 air strikes on Houthi positions within three hours. The renewed conflict has reportedly displaced tens of thousands of people and raised concerns over security around the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb shipping route.
