20 Dead, Five Missing After Cargo Ship Fire at Qingdao Shipyard
At least 20 people have died after a fire broke out on the Liberian-flagged cargo ship Ocean Melody during repair work at a shipyard in Qingdao, China. Chinese state media said 42 people were on board when the blaze started at about 11am on Thursday. Twelve people were evacuated safely, while five others were injured and taken to hospital in stable condition. The fire was brought under control at about 2:30pm, but five people were still missing as rescue teams continued searching. Authorities have not disclosed the cause of the incident and are investigating possible safety lapses at the shipyard.
