Federal Government, Labour Resume Talks on Fuel Prices and Workers’ Pay
The Federal Government is meeting with the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress as unions press for action on petrol prices, wages and workers’ welfare. The unions want petrol prices reduced to 2024 levels, tax relief for workers, immediate wage awards and early negotiations on a new minimum wage. They have warned of possible nationwide industrial action if their demands are not addressed. The talks follow an earlier meeting that ended without agreement. Pensioners are also calling for payment of outstanding fuel-subsidy palliatives and improved healthcare access.
