17 Suspected Terrorists, Family Members Surrender as Troops Disrupt Supply Networks
Seventeen suspected terrorists and their family members have surrendered to Operation Hadin Kai troops in Borno State, the Defence Headquarters says. The surrenders reportedly occurred in Monguno and along the Gwoza-Limankara road between September 4 and 7. Military authorities said the suspects cited hunger, harsh conditions and shortages of basic supplies in terrorist enclaves around the Mandara Mountains. Troops also rescued a woman and her one-year-old child near Gava in Gwoza after she allegedly escaped captivity and forced child marriage. Across Borno, Yobe, Kaduna, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara and Niger states, troops said they arrested suspected suppliers, informants and collaborators. They also recovered weapons, ammunition, motorcycles, medical supplies and spare parts allegedly meant for terrorist groups. The Chief of Defence Staff urged communities to provide timely and credible intelligence as security forces continue operations against terrorism, kidnapping and arms trafficking.
