Security Forces Rescue 21 Kidnap Victims in Kogi’s Dekina LGA
Kogi State Government says 21 people abducted along the Alloma–Ejule–Itobe road have been rescued in Dekina Local Government Area. The victims, eight men and 13 women, were rescued on August 31, 2026, after troops of the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade worked with police, DSS operatives, local hunters and vigilante groups. The operation followed intelligence-led searches in the Egume and Ochaja forest areas. One male victim who sustained a gunshot wound was taken to a medical facility for treatment. Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo praised the security agencies and urged residents to provide timely information to support efforts against kidnapping.
