Political economist Pat Utomi has defended commentator Anthony Kila amid online questions about Kila’s academic background. Utomi said he has known Kila since 2006 and described him as intelligent and capable. However, he added that he had not personally examined Kila’s certificates or appointment letters and could not independently verify the details of his qualifications. He argued that claims Kila never attended school were baseless and criticised online campaigns that seek to damage people’s reputations before allegations are properly examined. Utomi said public scrutiny should be based on evidence rather than humiliation.
