I Question Tinubu’s Makkah Visit and Its Political Timing Ahead of 2027
I am questioning the timing and public display of President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Makkah and Madinah. In my view, it comes after years of hardship, alleged misgovernance and growing public distrust. I believe the images from the holy cities are being used to win back support ahead of the 2027 election. I do not believe faith should be used as political theatre. The Quran teaches truthfulness, justice, compassion for the poor and accountability in leadership. A leader who claims faith should reflect those values in governance, not only in public appearances. I urge Nigerians, especially Muslim voters, to judge leaders by their actions. They should consider the cost of living, hunger, displaced families, public spending, elections and the welfare of ordinary citizens rather than being persuaded by campaign-style religious imagery.
