White House Criticised After Personal Attack on CNN Journalist Kristen Holmes

The White House is facing criticism after President Donald Trump and its Rapid Response account targeted CNN correspondent Kristen Holmes over questions asked during an Oval Office event. Holmes asked Trump about remarks by Senator Jon Ossoff concerning executive assistant Natalie Harp. Trump criticised Ossoff, then later called Holmes “fake news” and accused her of being disrespectful after she raised another question about US military exercises with South Korea. The White House Rapid Response account later posted comments about Holmes that referred to her children. CNN defended its correspondent, saying she asked a tough, relevant and newsworthy question, and argued that personal attacks on journalists undermine press freedom.
