Iran Converts Refinery Carbon Dioxide Into Commercial Liquid CO₂
An Iranian company says it is recovering carbon dioxide from exhaust gases at the Tehran Oil Refinery and converting it into commercial-grade liquid CO₂. The facility reportedly has capacity to process about 40,000 metric tonnes yearly. The company says the purified product exceeds 99.9% purity and is suitable for food processing, medical and pharmaceutical use, laboratories, agriculture, firefighting and welding. The project also supplies domestic customers and exports part of its output to Iraq. It has been shortlisted for a 2026 energy award in the net-zero initiatives category.
