Woman Retracts Rape Allegation Against Nigerian Footballer Victor Ebele

Chioma Oniniwu has withdrawn her 2025 rape allegation against Nigerian footballer Victor Ebele Junior and issued an apology to him and his family. In a public statement, she said she made the allegation while pregnant, fearful and under intense emotional stress. She acknowledged that Victor Ebele did not rape her and said her accusation caused him and his family pain, embarrassment and reputational damage. She also apologised to Victor’s brother, Frank, the wider Ebele family and the Nigerian Police Force. Oniniwu said she regrets how she handled the matter and asked that the earlier allegation be removed to prevent further harm.
