House Panel Says Gbajabiamila Is Not Target of Probe Into Alleged Fake Federal Agency
The House of Representatives ad-hoc committee probing the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council says Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila is not the focus of its investigation. Committee chairman Yusuf Gagdi said the panel is examining how an agency allegedly created without legal backing entered the Federal Government structure, secured accommodation and appeared in the budget. According to Gagdi, documents from security and anti-graft agencies indicated that the law establishing the council, its Presidency take-off letter and the appointment letter issued to its alleged director-general were forged. The committee also said it uncovered 58 bank accounts across 12 organisations allegedly linked to the suspect’s BVN. The panel says its report is preliminary and that further findings on the agency’s operations, financial activities and possible accomplices will be presented when the House resumes plenary.
