First Lady Gives ₦819m to 1,638 Widows of Fallen Security Personnel

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has provided ₦500,000 each to 1,638 widows of Nigerian Armed Forces and Police personnel who died in active service between 2023 and 2026. The ₦819 million intervention was presented in Abuja under the Renewed Hope Initiative. It includes about ₦657.5 million for 1,315 military widows and ₦161.5 million for 323 police widows. Mrs Tinubu said the funds are intended to help beneficiaries start or recapitalise businesses and support their families. The Chief of Defence Staff and the Inspector-General of Police said the support recognises the sacrifices of fallen personnel and offers relief to the families they left behind.
