Ngwa Community Invokes Spiritual Curses on Men Who Raped and Murdered Student Nurse Wendy Achumba
Residents of Ngwa in Imo State gathered in mourning after the brutal rape and beheading of nursing student Chinwendu “Wendy” Achumba. Wearing black, they knelt and placed their hands on the earth to call on divine justice. A spiritual leader led the ceremony, beseeching God, the spirits of nature, and the late nurse herself to pursue vengeance on her killers—and their families. He declared that the suffering Wendy endured would befall those responsible, their spouses, and future generations. Chants rang out invoking curses on the men who rejected Wendy’s advances and took her life. Community members affirmed that no pastor or native doctor could undo what they had decreed, ending the ritual in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. A video of the solemn ceremony has circulated on social media, capturing the community’s grief and demand for justice.
