Old Photos of Obi Cubana, E-Money With Liberia’s Ex-VP Resurface After Drug Charges
Photos from a 2021 meeting between former Liberian Vice-President Jewel Howard-Taylor and Nigerian businessmen Obi Cubana, E-Money and Ned Okonkwo have resurfaced after Howard-Taylor was charged over an alleged transnational narcotics network. The Nigerian delegation visited Monrovia in October 2021 on what was described as a trade and investment mission. Discussions reportedly covered opportunities in tourism, real estate, agriculture, energy and youth development. Howard-Taylor was arrested on August 19, 2026, while allegedly attempting to leave Liberia. She faces charges including drug trafficking, money laundering, conspiracy and the unlawful handling of controlled substances. Liberian authorities say the case is part of a wider anti-narcotics investigation. The resurfaced photographs have triggered speculation online. However, the reports describe the 2021 visit as a legitimate investment mission, and the material provided does not allege that the Nigerian visitors were involved in the drug case.
