Nigeria Has the Talent and Resources—But Needs Better Leadership

Nigeria is blessed with talented people, globally recognised artistes and athletes, and abundant natural resources such as gold, limestone, iron ore, bitumen, cocoa, crude oil and rare earth minerals. I believe our biggest challenge is the political class. Nigeria needs leaders with vision, integrity and a willingness to sacrifice for the people, like Obafemi Awolowo, Anthony Enahoro and Lateef Jakande. Our politicians must do better. They remain the weak link in a country with so much potential. Happy Independence Day, Nigeria.
