Russia Launches Massive Air Assault on Kyiv with Nuclear-Capable Hypersonic Missile
Russian forces unleashed one of their heaviest bombardments on Kyiv overnight, firing hundreds of drones and missiles in a sustained attack. Ukraine’s air force reported about 600 drones and 90 missiles were launched. Most were intercepted, but at least four people died and dozens were wounded as strikes damaged homes, schools and cultural landmarks. Officials said the assault included the nuclear-capable Oreshnik hypersonic missile. Kyiv’s mayor confirmed damage in every district and described scenes of panic as residents took shelter underground. Global leaders condemned the barrage as terror against civilians. Ukraine’s president accused Russia of reckless escalation, while Moscow insisted it targeted military sites in response to earlier Ukrainian strikes.
