Chris Brown Criticises Texas Lawmaker Who Apologised for Honouring Him
Chris Brown has criticised Texas State Representative Venton Jones after Jones apologised for taking part in a ceremony that recognised the singer’s contributions to music and entertainment. Jones and US Representative Jasmine Crockett joined Brown and Usher on stage at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Crockett said the artistes’ achievements would be recorded in the Congressional Record. The ceremonial recognition drew criticism because of Brown’s 2009 felony assault case involving Rihanna. Jones later apologised for his involvement during an interview. Brown responded that he did not ask for the honour and accused the lawmaker of backing down under political pressure. The recognition was ceremonial and was not a congressional vote or legislation.
