Edo Police Arrest 21-Year-Old Over Girlfriend’s Death After Social Media Meeting

The Edo State Police Command has arrested 21-year-old Michael Samuel over the death of his girlfriend in Benin City. Police Commissioner Patrick Daaor said the pair met on social media, chatted for months and became friends. The woman later visited Samuel at his home in the Ahor axis of the city, where she allegedly sustained fatal knife injuries. Samuel claimed the injuries occurred during a struggle for a knife after an argument. He said he tried to save her, but she died. Police said he remains in custody and will be charged after investigations are completed.
