Amichi Residents Accuse Anambra Commissioner of Interfering in Town Union Leadership
Concerned residents of Amichi in Anambra State have accused the Commissioner for Chieftaincy, Local Government and Community Affairs, Vincent Ezeaka, of interfering in the leadership of the Amichi Development Union (ADU). They allege that the commissioner extended the tenure of a former President-General despite a subsisting court injunction, and later altered a caretaker committee approved by the community’s General Assembly. The residents also questioned the alleged suspension of the union’s constitution. The group argued that government intervention must comply with the ADU constitution, applicable laws and court processes. They called on the commissioner and the Anambra State Government to explain the legal basis for the actions. The commissioner had not responded to the allegations at the time of this report.
