President Bola Tinubu has declared three days of national mourning for Nigerian Air Force personnel who died in Monday’s aircraft crash near Igbokoda, Ondo State. The national flag will fly at half-mast across the country during the mourning period. The ATR-42 aircraft was travelling from Benin to Lagos on a routine mission and had 25 passengers and seven crew members on board. Tinubu described the deaths as a painful loss for the Armed Forces and the country. He directed the Nigerian Air Force to investigate the cause of the crash and commended the emergency response teams. The names of those who died will be released after their families have been contacted.
