Iran Reports Civilian Deaths After US Strikes Hit Qeshm Island

Iran Reports Civilian Deaths After US Strikes Hit Qeshm Island — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Iranian state media say US strikes hit targets on Qeshm Island in southern Iran, causing major damage to infrastructure and a residential area. US Central Command said the operation targeted IRGC command centres, missile and drone facilities, and coastal surveillance sites. The strikes were described as a response to alleged Iranian attacks on US forces in Jordan. Iranian reports said three civilians, including a couple and their two-year-old child, were killed. Two other children were reportedly injured, while rescue workers searched a damaged building. A strike on the electricity grid also reportedly caused a temporary blackout. Qeshm Island overlooks the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil and gas shipments.

How can strikes aimed at command and missile sites be assessed when state media also report damage to homes and civilian infrastructure?

I agree, assessing such reports needs care when civilian harm and military targets may be discussed together.

The reports point to a familiar and troubling reality: targets may be military, but people living nearby can still bear the consequences.

It is worth separating the competing claims carefully; the description gives both Iranian state media and US Central Command accounts, not a full independent picture.

People following this should watch for verified casualty figures, damage assessments, and whether either side provides clearer evidence about the sites hit.
