Governor Otti Recounts Escaping Alleged 2015 Assassination Attempt

Abia State Governor Alex Otti says he narrowly escaped an alleged assassination attempt in Abuja in July 2015, while challenging the Abia governorship election result at the tribunal. Speaking at the Abia Solemn Assembly and Covenant Renewal Service in Umuahia, Otti said he left Abuja after deciding he needed to attend the tribunal in Owerri. He said armed men later attacked his Maitama residence and killed two police officers while searching for him. Otti said he believes his decision to travel was divinely guided. He also recalled being advised to seek traditional spiritual protection before entering politics, but said he remained committed to his Christian faith.
