Group Demands Evidence-Based Probe of NNRA Contract Fraud Allegations
The Integrity Advocacy for Development Initiative has called for an independent, evidence-based investigation into allegations of contract fraud and misappropriation involving the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority. The group said claims involving about ₦6.69 billion should be tested against appropriation records, procurement documents, payment records, audit reports and physical verification of projects. It stressed that audit observations and allegations should not be treated as proof of guilt without a proper investigation. It also urged oversight bodies to clarify the status of the audit observations, the NNRA’s responses and whether any issues have been resolved or referred for further action. The group said civil society organisations may pursue accountability through peaceful protest and legal channels, including the Freedom of Information Act.
