Tinubu Approved Lifetime Salaries for Retired Immigration Chiefs, Minister Says
Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo says President Bola Tinubu has approved lifetime salaries for retired Comptrollers-General and Deputy Comptrollers-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service. He said retired Comptrollers-General previously received pensions of about ₦130,000 monthly. The minister also said the administration had cleared promotion backlogs, promoted more than 50,000 personnel across agencies under the ministry, and recruited about 40,000 new personnel. Tunji-Ojo made the remarks at the closing of a border-control and immigration-management training programme in Abuja. He said the measures were aimed at improving staff welfare and strengthening institutions for the long term.
