US Lobbying Firm Opposes Proposed Tinubu-Trump Meeting at UN General Assembly

A United States-based lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York L.C., says it is seeking to prevent a proposed meeting between President Bola Tinubu and US President Donald Trump during next month’s United Nations General Assembly. The firm was responding to comments by Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, who said Tinubu was expected to hold talks with Trump on the sidelines of the assembly. In a statement shared on social media, the firm said it had sent a video of Ibrahim’s remarks to senior Trump administration officials and planned to contact members of Congress and the State Department. It argued that such a meeting could be viewed by some Nigerians as an endorsement of Tinubu despite allegations linked to historical US court records.
