Kogi Court Sentences Man to Death for Killing Friend in Okene
A Kogi State High Court in Okene has sentenced Abdulmutalib Abduljabar to death by hanging for the killing of his friend, Momohjimoh Abduljafar. Justice A.S. Hussein found Abduljabar guilty of culpable homicide punishable by death under Section 221 of the Kogi State Penal Code, 2019, as amended. The court held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. The prosecution said the incident occurred on June 6, 2025, at a hotel in Okene, where Abduljafar was stabbed with a sharp object and later died. Defence counsel said an appeal would be filed after obtaining the certified copy of the judgment.
