Atiku Camp Questions El-Rufai’s Continued Detention After 200 Days
The camp of ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has criticised the continued detention of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who it says has spent 200 days in ICPC custody. In a statement, the camp said El-Rufai is entitled to due process, justice and equal treatment under the law. It argued that he is not seeking immunity from investigation but should not be held indefinitely. The statement alleged that state institutions are being used to pressure opposition politicians ahead of the 2027 election. It also questioned why other politically active figures facing corruption cases appear to be treated differently. The camp said elections must remain free and competitive, warning that using state power to weaken opponents would harm Nigerian democracy.
