British Novelist Jeffrey Archer Dies at 86, a Day Before Final Novel’s Release
British bestselling novelist and former Conservative politician Jeffrey Archer has died at the age of 86, according to his publisher. He reportedly died peacefully at his home on 5 October, a day before the planned global release of his final novel, Adam and Eve. Archer sold more than 300 million books over a writing career that spanned five decades. He was known for titles including Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less, Kane and Abel and The Clifton Chronicles. His life also included a political career and a conviction for perjury and perverting the course of justice in 2001. After his release from prison, he wrote A Prison Diary and continued publishing novels. He is survived by his wife, Dame Mary Archer, two sons and five grandchildren.
