Berlin Pride Attack Suspect Shot Dead After Police Operation
German police have shot dead a 21-year-old suspect accused of killing one person and injuring 29 others near Berlin’s Christopher Street Day Pride celebrations. Authorities said the suspect was located at a garden complex in Spandau, west Berlin, on Sunday. Police said he rushed at armed officers with a stabbing weapon, prompting Special Operations Command officers to open fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the suspect drove a van into a crowd before attacking people with a blade. Germany’s interior minister said the evidence pointed to a suspected Islamist attack and warned that further attacks could not be ruled out. The incident led organisers to end the Pride event near the Brandenburg Gate and cancel two others. Berlin residents later gathered to mourn the victim as investigations continued.
