ANSIEC Presents Certificates of Return to Anambra’s 21 Elected Council Chairmen
The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission has presented Certificates of Return to the 21 newly elected local government chairmen, their deputies and successful councillors across the state. APGA won all 21 chairmanship seats and 362 councillorship seats in the council election. The YPP won two councillorship seats in Ajalli and Ndikelionwu wards in Orumba North Local Government Area. ANSIEC Chairperson Genevieve Osakwe said the commission applied the required yes-or-no voting process for unopposed chairmanship candidates. She urged the incoming council officials to focus on development and responsive governance in their communities. Some of the elected chairmen pledged to prioritise healthcare, education, security, youth empowerment and local infrastructure projects.
