Court Allows DSS Forensic Expert to Testify in El-Rufai Corruption Trial
A Kaduna State High Court has dismissed an objection by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s defence team and allowed a DSS digital forensic expert to testify in the ICPC’s alleged corruption case against him. Justice Darius Khobo ruled that the witness could be called because he was subpoenaed by the court, even though his name and evidence summary were not included in the prosecution’s witness list. The court said the defence could protect its right to fair hearing through cross-examination. The forensic examiner testified on communication records and audio files allegedly connected to El-Rufai and suspected associates. He told the court that the audio examined was authentic and showed no signs of artificial intelligence generation or manipulation. El-Rufai denies the allegations. The case was adjourned to November 30 and December 1 for the defence to continue cross-examining the witness.
