Alumni Body Mourns Soldiers Killed in Kuru Attack, Demands Stronger Campus Security
The Alumni Association of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies has condemned the armed assault on its Kuru campus in the early hours of 16 June. Two soldiers and a police officer died defending the Institute. The association extends heartfelt condolences to their families and to the Nigerian Army and Police Force. It also salutes the swift response of security personnel that prevented greater loss of life. Calling NIPSS a national treasure, the association urges the federal and Plateau State governments to investigate the attack, bring those responsible to justice, and deploy permanent security measures to protect participants, staff, and the wider community. It prays for healing for the wounded and lasting peace for the NIPSS community and Nigeria as a whole.
