Customs Deploys AI Tools to Tackle Fake News and Online Scams

The Nigeria Customs Service says it is deploying artificial intelligence and digital intelligence tools to detect fake news, verify online claims and tackle scams linked to its operations. Comptroller-General Bashir Adeniyi said the tools will help Customs monitor public sentiment, identify misleading narratives and work with relevant agencies to trace those behind false information. He added that AI is already supporting risk management by helping the service assess imported goods and determine the level of Customs intervention required.
