Fact Check: Did Peter Obi Leave ₦72bn Cash and $150m for Anambra?

The alleged additional ₦50 billion airport loan was not supported by publicly available evidence. The fact-check also found that the claim Obi left ₦72 billion in cash was inaccurate. Obi later said he left about ₦30 billion in naira, roughly $156 million in foreign currency, and investments said to be worth ₦25 billion. However, the actual amount handed over could not be independently verified from public records, while the Obiano administration disputed Obi’s figures.
