Anambra Police Arrest 22-Year-Old Over Alleged Self-Kidnapping and ₦3m Ransom
The Anambra State Police Command says it has arrested a 22-year-old woman over an alleged self-kidnapping scheme that reportedly led her family to pay ₦3 million in ransom. Police said she was reported missing after an alleged abduction along the Onitsha–Asaba Expressway on August 29. Despite the ransom payment, she was not released, prompting an investigation. Operatives reportedly traced her to a room in Asaba, Delta State, on September 18. Investigators allege that she worked with a female associate and an unidentified man to stage the kidnapping. Police say efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the other suspects.
