Kebbi on Edge as ‘Sai Malam’ Terror Sect Emerges
June 24, 2026 The Kebbi State Government has warned about a newly identified terror group known as “Sai Malam.” Officials first encountered the sect in Zuru Emirate and later spotted members in Argungu. The group is reported to use blood sacrifices among its members. The state’s Special Adviser on Security urged the police to take decisive action. The government says it is supplying vehicles, motorcycles and equipment to boost security operations. Representatives of the Inspector-General of Police called on traditional rulers and community leaders to share intelligence freely. Mobile police units have been deployed to Danko-Wasagu, and security agencies plan to monitor waterways to block weapons smuggling.
