Army Kills Two Suspected Kidnappers, Recovers AK-47s and Thousands of Rounds in Kogi
Nigerian Army troops killed two suspected kidnappers and recovered two AK-47 rifles and more than 5,000 rounds of ammunition during a follow-up operation in Edimogbo Forest, Igalamela-Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State, on Tuesday. Other items recovered included seven magazines, two bandoliers, two mobile phones and a power bank. The operation followed a raid on a suspected kidnappers’ camp in the same forest on Monday. Troops dismantled the camp and recovered about 1,000 rounds of ammunition and six motorcycles. The Army said troops pursued fleeing suspects and searched remaining hideouts during Tuesday’s operation. Other suspects escaped into the surrounding forest, while the military said it would continue operations to protect residents and improve security in the state.
