Ogun Police Rescue Abducted Truck Driver, Kill Two Suspected Kidnappers

Police in Ogun State have rescued a truck driver abducted near Ajibawo in Ibese, Yewa North, and killed two suspected kidnappers during a raid on their hideout. The driver was reportedly taken at about 11:10pm on August 25, 2026. Acting on intelligence, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit traced the suspects to a location along the Papalanto-Ilaro Road. Police said the suspects opened fire as officers moved in, leading to a gun battle. Two suspects were killed, while others escaped with gunshot wounds. The driver was rescued unharmed. Officers recovered two AK-47 rifles, 25 rounds of ammunition, two phones and N2 million suspected to be crime proceeds. The police have urged residents to report anyone seeking treatment for gunshot injuries as efforts continue to arrest the fleeing suspects.
