Troops Foil Kidnap Plot in Kogi, Kill Suspected Terrorist

Troops of the 12 Brigade, 2 Division disrupted a planned kidnapping in Kogi State after receiving intelligence about abduction plans in Jakura II Community. Soldiers set up an ambush along the Old Obajana-Tajimi Road, blocking the suspects’ route and engaging them in a firefight. One armed suspect was killed, while others fled with gunshot injuries. A subsequent search recovered an AK-47 rifle, five magazines, 70 rounds of ammunition, a bandolier and mobile phones, confirming the group’s involvement in kidnapping activities. The brigade commander praised the troops for their professionalism and dedication. The army assured residents that security operations will continue and urged them to provide timely intelligence.
