Woman Arrested for Allegedly Smuggling Alcohol Disguised as Water into Ogun Prison

Officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service in Ogun State have intercepted a woman accused of attempting to bring alcohol into the Ibara Custodial Centre in Abeokuta. She was reportedly stopped at about 3:50 p.m. on Saturday while carrying a pack of bottled water intended for an inmate. Officers allegedly discovered that the bottles contained ethanol disguised as drinking water. The suspect has been handed over to the police for investigation. The Ogun State Correctional Service said it will maintain strict measures against smuggling and any activity that could threaten safety inside custodial centres.
