Every Nigerian Ethnic Group Has a Right to Self-Determination

No group in Nigeria has a greater right to self-determination simply because it has a larger population or more natural resources. Every ethnic group has people, land and economic potential that can support political development. A constituency of 100,000 people can build its economy through productive citizens, efficient tax collection, food production, services and stronger purchasing power. Mineral resources should not be treated as the only measure of viability. Smaller groups should not be intimidated into accepting political arrangements that deny them control over their territories. Britain colonised the peoples now called Nigeria together; no Nigerian ethnic group was the colonial power over another.
