Christ: The Unshakable Cornerstone of the Church
Christ is the foundation of the Church. In Matthew 21:42, Jesus calls Himself the stone rejected by builders yet chosen by God as the chief cornerstone. Paul confirms in 1 Corinthians 3:11 that no one can lay a foundation other than Christ. Isaiah’s prophecy (Isaiah 28:16) and Jesus’ own reference to Psalm 118:22 reinforce His role as the precious, tried stone. The apostles proclaimed this truth boldly in Acts 4:11. Ephesians 2:20 explains that the Church is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. Those who trust in Him stand on an unshakable Rock and share in His victory. Prayer: I am founded on Christ, the sure foundation and chief cornerstone of the Church. My faith stands firm on His unchanging truth. Amen! Further study: 1 Peter 2:6–8; Isaiah 8:14; Psalm 118:22–23. Bible reading suggestions: John 11; 2 Kings 10–12; 1 Corinthians 11; Proverbs 19.
